London Craft Week 4th - 10th October 2021

To coincide with the Olympic Games in Tokyo, London Craft week are celebrating Japanese excellence across art, design, technology and culture. Japanese craftsmanship is woven into the fabric of everyday life, and during London Craft Week there will be opportunities to discover the master artisans who are keeping ancient techniques alive – and reinventing them too.

The ancient Japanese concept of ‘Takumi’, meaning ‘artisan’, embodies a blend of skill and spirit. A Takumi master craftsman has a remarkable depth and breadth of knowledge, testament to years of dedicated learning. London Craft Week’s Takumi Townhouse, in association with Lexus, will bring Will Barker, the master in the metal discipline.

Taking inspiration from Lexus’s In Search of Takumi, a series of films focusing on highly skilled artisans in the UK, the exhibition will showcase Will’s work, with the piece commissioned by Lexus as well as new work from other distinguished makers.

On Thursday 8th October, The London Blacksmith will be hosting a number of workshops where you can etch your own Damascus key-ring and receive a VIP goody bag.
